Bread N' Soup Night

Annual event begins Monday

College of Eastern Utah is hosting its 11th annual “Bread ‘N Soup Night” beginning Monday, Nov. 2 and continuing each Monday through Nov. 23. The event runs from 5-6:30 p.m., and held in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center. All proceeds from the event are donated to the Carbon County Food Bank.

Over the last eleven years, CEU donated over $19,700 to the Food Bank, said Carrie Icard, who started the program 11 years ago.

The college’s food service prepares three different homemade soups and fresh-baked bread for each Monday’s dinner. CEU students often provide musical entertainment, and faculty, staff and students volunteer their time to serve each evening. Attendance in 2008 averaged 300 people per night.

Cole Unsworth, a CEU student from Clinton, Utah, and this year’s SUN Center president, notes that “Bread ‘N Soup Night is a cool way for the community and the college to help the hungry in Carbon County. It’s been a very rewarding project which brings everyone together.”

Adults are $5, students $4 and children under 5 years are free.
